InP-Based THz Beam Steering Leaky-Wave Antenna

چکیده

For mobile THz applications, integrated beam steering transmitters are essential. Beam approaches using leaky-wave antennas (LWAs) attractive in that regard since they do not require complex feeding control circuits and is simply accomplished by sweeping the operating frequency. To date, only a few LWAs have been reported. These based on polymer or graphene substrates thus, it quite impossible to monolithically integrate these with state-of-the-art indium phosphide (InP)-based photonic electronic sources receivers. Therefore, this article, we report an InP-based LWA for first time. The developed fabricated consists of periodic leaking microstrip line grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW-MSL) transition future integration photodiodes. fabrication, substrate-transfer process silicon as carrier substrate 50-μm thin InP antenna chip has established. This article furthermore discusses use interconnects.

Leaky wave antenna with amplitude controlled beam steering based on composite right/left-handed transmission lines

An antenna comprising two different composite right/left-handed transmission line structures is proposed which enables easy beam steering at an operation frequency of 10 GHz. The composite right/left-handed transmission lines are based on planar, periodically arranged via free unit cells, implemented in microstrip technology. Both transmission lines exhibit the infinite wavelength phenomenon wh...

Silicon-based optical leaky wave antenna with narrow beam radiation.

We propose a design of a dielectric (silicon nitride) optical leaky wave antenna (OLWA) with periodic semiconductor (silicon) corrugations, capable of producing narrow beam radiation. The optical antenna radiates a narrow beam because a leaky wave (LW) with low attenuation constant is excited at one end of the corrugated dielectric waveguide. We show that pointing angle, beam-width, and operati...

A Novel Two-Beam Scanning Active Leaky-Wave Antenna

A novel two-beam scanning active leaky-wave antenna (LWA) has been developed. This LWA with a two-terminal feeding microstrip line structure is integrated with a varactortuned X-band high-electron mobility transistor (HEMT) voltagecontrolled oscillator (VCO). The signal of the VCO is injected via a T-divider into the radiating element. To excite the first higher order mode, the designed antenna...

Leaky CPW-Based Slot Antenna Arrays for Millimeter-Wave Applications

A uniplanar leaky-wave antenna (LWA) suitable for operation at millimeter-wave frequencies is introduced. Both unidirectional and bidirectional versions of the antenna are presented. The proposed structure consists of a coplanar waveguide fed linear array of closely spaced capacitive transverse slots. This configuration results in a fast-wave structure in which the = 0 spatial harmonic radiates...

Tunable Dielectric Resonator-Based Left-Handed Leaky Wave Antenna

Recently, left-handed (LH) metamaterials have been achieved by arranging an array of TE resonant dielectric resonators (DRs) in a cut-off parallel plate waveguide [1], [2]. Since negative permittivity is provided by the TE cut-off background, the DRs only need to generate the required negative permeability in order to realize a LH metamaterial. This configuration provides a more flexible choice...
